The Modern French Navy
The naval forces of the country of the Gallic Rooster have a very long tradition, lasting almost four hundred years continuously. The French Navy was founded in 1626 during the reign of Louis XIII. and since then it has had many famous and defining moments. It is enough to recall the famous overseas expeditions of officers Jean Ribault, Louis Antoine de Bougainville and Jean-Francois de Galup de Laperouse to drive the point home. It can also be said that the French naval forces were pioneers in putting innovations into practice with, for example, ships with a steel hull, armored cruisers, the first seaplane carrier or the first mechanically propelled submarines.

DEATH OF A FLEET
On 8 November 1942, Allies forces landed in Morocco and Algeria as part of Operation Torch. The Luftwaffe's response was codenamed Stockdorf and a number of combat units quickly but temporarily moved to south-west France, at that time under Vichy French control, in response to the perceived threat of an invasion in southern France and to secure airfields and military stores. On March 8, 1969, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser Hussein declared the end of the ceasefire with Israel and, simultaneously, the official beginning of the War of Attrition. President Nasser wanted to retake the entire Sinai Peninsula, lost in 1967, and thus erase the shame of the previous military defeat, by effectively wearing down the Israeli army. Egyptian and Israeli fighters clashed in the skies. The following day, the War of Attrition claimed its first illustrious victim, when Israeli mortars killed the Egyptian Chief of Staff, General Riad, in a bunker near Ismailia.

Model and Story - Stanislaw Sklaski
Stanisław Skalski was born on November 27th, 1915, in the town of Kodyma near Odessa in present-day Ukraine, then part of the Russian Empire. After 1918, the family moved to Poland and settled in the town of Dubno, also in present-day Ukraine, where Stanisław graduated from the Stanisław Konarski Gymnasium and graduated in 1933.
