The base, which during the Cold War
temporarily hosted up to 10,000 members
of the U.S. Armed Forces, is today manned
by only around 150 men and women of
the United States Space Force. It is the
northernmost U.S. military base in the
world, located 1,210 km north of the
Arcc Circle and 1,524 km south of the
North Pole. The base occupies an ideal

The area monitored by systems under
the control of Pituk Space Base largely

extended coverage of western and eastern
Russia respecvely.
Pituk Space Base is also home to the
821st Space Base Group, responsible for
providing base operang support within
the Pituk Defense Area.
The base hosts the 12th Space Warning
