Eduard Modellers Den No. 6 - JUNE 2025
For many years, from our European
perspecve, it seemed that we were
at the end of history and that we
would never again face anything as
terrible as the world wars of the 20th
century, or the seemingly smaller but
more distant wars of the previous
ones. Of course, wars are sll being
fought somewhere, but for most of
us, the wars in Africa and the Middle
East were as far away as the old great
wars of the mes when history was
sll being unraveled.
Our soldiers fought in them, in
those current small wars, but their
sacrices seemed small to us, and
somehow acceptable, similar to the
sacrices of our ancestors in those
big wars, because the great victories
were somehow worth it. That‘s what
various patriots of all naons and
admirers of the good old days say,
but not me. I‘m saying that not all
those glorious victories were worth
their sacrices and that stopping
lying to ourselves about them would
be a welcome reward for paence,
at the very least.
When history seles down, it seems
like a good me for self-reecon
and reconciliaon. But history
wakes up every now and then and
things happen again with a speed
that is frightening. There is a theory
that history gets mad and changes
the course of the world about once
every eighty years. As is oen the
case in science, experts disagree on
the validity of this theory, which is
quite common and normal. Experts
rarely agree, and to tell the truth,
a state in which experts agree is
a pipe dream. And when they do
agree, it is good to be on guard,
because in most cases, when experts
mostly agree on something, some
nonsense comes out of it with the
potenal to really threaten the
existence of humanity.
Then we should appreciate people
like Greta Thunberg, because the
fact that this generally accepted
catastrophic vision is so propogated
by an obvious lunac gives the
skepcs hope that it won‘t be so
bad aer all. However, the heat is
starng to grow from just around
every corner, some uncomfortably
close, and it won‘t be global warming,
because such hotheads heat up
without a direct connecon to the
ambient temperature.
And so, eighty years aer the end of
the greatest war of all me, history
is waking up and its course is gaining
momentum. But lets not despair. All
the commentary and tesmonials
from the geniuses on TV and radio
see it as a bad thing, so we can sll
hope that everything will turn out
well in the end.
Happy Modelling!
